my daughter and husband both have ringworm and it won't go away why is that?

Ring worm: Lamisil (terbinafine) cream should be used for 4 weeks. Is over the counter.  Maybe lesion needs scraping and look at it in the microscope. If no improvement consider different diagnosis or dermatology visit.

Psoriasis: If your pills are not curing your ringworm it is very unlikely you have ringworm.  The more common and persistent problem is called psoriasis.

i have 3 ringworm spots that wont go away with otc cremes. my doc prescribed 7 days of ketoconazole tablets 200mg. i've seen doc on here say that's not good drug for this? i'm concerned by all the warnings on the labels for this drug. please advise!

Griseofulvin : I am surprised you are given Ketoconazol. It is the last one to use due to serious side effects even liver failure!  Depending on the site of the ringworm if OTC topical cremes do not work  then I would give Griseofulvin for 4 to 6 weeks. May treat it once.  There are other similar drugs too- their names escapes me!   Get a second opinion with a dermatologist. Best of luck and good health.

See the doctor!: Rash has to be looked at and if it is ringworm  your baby's doctor will prescribe  anti fungal cream

: The failure of a good treatment often means the diagnosis is in error. There are many things that mimic ringworm. A visit /examination is likely necessary to find a way to remove the mark.

Ring-like rash: Ringworm is called this because it classically forms a raised ring of scale and mile redness.  Often the center part of the ring is clear, or relatively clear.  However, it does't always look this classic.  Ringworm needs to be treated with an anti-fungal medicine.  Topical or systemic meds can both work. It can be easy to diagnose so if in doubt you should be seen.

1-2 weeks: If you are using the cream on a mild case of ringworm then it should go away in 1-2 weeks.  If you are taking the pills for a more severe case then it will take 2-4 weeks to go away.
