last month i started to get few bumps on my leg - after swimming in pool. i am pretty sure it is molescum contagisum. maybe 4. not painful. 1 is getting itchy a lot and is looking more red now. what do i do? leave it alone?

: I do not know why you are so sure those lesions are due to molluscum contagiosum but I doubt. You can use cold compress or lidocaine ointment (OTC) for itching and localized redness. If the redness extends with pain, you should see your doctor for possible need of antibiotic.

my son 7 has a mark on his lower leg from yesterday after swimming.  it has a black spot in the middle which we tried to remove but no luck. it is now about the size of r5 coin, red and warm.  can i just use ointment and cover or could it be a spider?

See doc: could be insect bite. would prob be painful if a spider bite. advise ro see dermatologist for proper dx and poss tx

If your: Doc has cleared you which I presume has happened then it is safe. Just be sure to keep your skin well moisturized.

Swimming rash: Basic skin sensitivity to treated water results in contact dermatitis, according to mayoclinic.Com. You develop reddened and irritated skin, sometimes with raised red bumps on your skin. Swimmer's itch is another skin condition that causes red and raised bumps or even blisters on your skin. Parasites in infected water cause swimmer's itch. The condition usually resolves itself after about one week.

Yes: Chlorine is very caustic and destroy skin. You can either use castor oil to area or muscle rub cream. Soak with epsom salt and baking soda in tub 3tbsp epsom salt and 1tbsp baking soda to help skin.

Chlorine!: The chlorine that is put in a public swimming pool to kill harmful organisms has also been known to cause skin irritation.  When you come out of the pool, be sure that you shower well!

Accepted Answer

Several things: Could be irritation from something in the pool, from sunlight, or from the lotion you're using.    Does the rash occur when he swims everywhere, or only in one pool?  Is the redness on his cheeks bothering him?  If his cheeks are a bit red but he is unbothered, then he cries only when you apply lotion, then try a different lotion.

what can be done to prevent vulvar burning after swimming? i apply vaseline before swimming. i tried several pools. can chlorine cause long-term harm?

Accepted Answer

Vulvodynia: You can try a few more things.  Vitamin a;d ointment combined with petrolatum (vaseline) could help.  You can also try Hydrocortisone over the counter in an ointment form.  Do not use the cream form as it contains alcohol. In terms of rx, your doc can give you a prescription for an estrogen topical medication which may help.
