Foot pain: Sudden foot pain can be from many different reasons.  For your age and gender, some common reasons are overuse, tight ligaments or tendons, inflammation, stress fracture, gout, etc.  Can you describe the area and onset?

Heel pain: People usually describe pain in 1 of 2 places as "heel pain". Pain  on the bottom may be plantar fasciitis (www.Drmarkgalland.Com 1/16/13), while pain on the back may be achilles tendonitis. As for the pain that spreads into the top of your foot, this may be a separate issue (tendonitis, stress fract), or something that has developed if the heel pain has changed your foot mechanics during activity.

hi, i am having pain with my left foot on the joint of my 2nd toe where my toe meets my foot. by the end of the day i can hardly walk. i wear orthotics, but had been wearing hiking sandals for a while because it is so hot out. my pain is causing me to limp and then its a ripple effect to making my back hurt etc.

Urgent Care: I would suggest a Podiatry and Urgent Care appointment. From your description, a fracture is possible. 
Avoid stress on the area, local ice and elevate the foot. Motrin may be used for pain. The Podiatrist will assess your footwear.

Stop Playing around.: Sounds like there's a whole lot going on here. Any one of the areas of pain could be the problem and compensation causing the rest. 
Could be soft tissue or bone or both. Your best bet is to have it examined to eliminate the possibilities. My guess is that you will need a cam walker of stabilize the foot for a while.

Stop Running: With any strain or injury, it's very important to rest the affected foot. There may be a tendon or ligament injury and with further running it could worsen. Have a specialist examine it if you have no improvement!

Ouch..: Start by having your foot evaluated for damage due to the injury site. It could possibly be  a fracture of the toe or a connecting bone. Count on having an x-ray taken.

FOOT PAIN: PLEASE SEE YOUR DOCTOR. AN X-RAY SHOULD BE DONE TO RULE OUT FRACTURE. SOMETIMES TRIVIAL INJURIES MAY CAUSE FRACTURE.
