i gave birth 9 months ago (had severe preeclampsia and iron deficiency) and i have noticed ever since then my knees will turn purple (they dont stay purple - kind of go back and forth). should i be overly concerned? no pain or numbness?

: There are temperature and activity variations which can influence superficial circulation in the lower extremities. Ask your GYN physician for guidance or referral to a hematology physician to rule out causes which may require treatment.

Get a medcheckup: If you have discoloration of your skin, it can be a circulatory problem  caused by conditions like Raynaud's disease(although cold temp is what is commonly responsible to bring out these changed in the case of Raynauds.
Still a physical exam and blood tests including CBC and serum proteins should be checked.

It may be a resolving hematoma(collection of clotted blood) or a bite by an insect or something else or an infection
