i have hurt both of my knees exercising. the entire knee hurts. they're not swollen or bruised no crunching but hurt a lot.  what's the best treatment?

Rest: For overuse injuries it's best to take a break for a few days. Cold packs will help to reduce swelling and pain but be careful not to put frozen objects directly on the skin (bags of frozen peas work really well). You can also use an anti-inflammatory medication for a few days.

Take breaks: You can take breaks and walk for 10-15 minutes during extended sitting hours. You can also exercise while you are sitting. Over the counter glucosamine / chondroitin sulfate 1200 mg is helpful if taken twice a day for many months.

Knee pain: Persistant pain in the back of the knee can come from many things ranging feom bakers cyst, tendinitis, or cartilage or menscus abnormalities.  U may be best served by getting yr knee looked at by orthopedist.

Patellofemoral pain: Anterior knee pain syndrome may be the result of various internal or external problems. Common causes are overuse, weak and inflexible quadriceps and hamstring muscles, a sudden change in intensity of your exercise regime, being overweight and flat feet.  This can also be called patellofemoral pain syndrome or runners knee.

my knee hurts when i squat or stretch it out after sitting for awhile?

Plica Pinch: More than likely you are pinching a band of synovial tissue in your knee under your kneecap. It gets inflamed with squats and bending. When you sit and bend your knee it stretches out and  catches when standing up. Answer: stretch your hamstrings and strengthen your quads with straight leg raises.

meniscus "shaved" in november.  past month back of knee hurts to straighten it after sitting, now hurts to bend/put weight on it most of the time.

Varies: I am sorry you are not doing better, hopefully will resolve over time; I would certainly let your surgeon know.  Most common causes of posterior knee pain after a partial menisectomy would include : persistent effusion/bakers cyst, recurrent tear, or underlying chondromalacia that was not addressed in surgery.  Again, I would let your surgeon know you are having problems.

my right knee hurts when i try to walk after sitting for about 10mins, sometimes it barely carries my weight but usually eases of after 3 mins. help?

Something is wrong: but cannot say in your particular case, but generally, "barely carries my weight" does NOT improve with continually walking. Stiffness does and that is a function of the inflammatory fluid in the knee. Besides aleve (naproxen) and an acewrap, there's lots orthopedics can do.

was weeding & kneeling for 15 minutes. when i stood up, can't bear weight on left knee w/out severe front knee pain. doesn't hurt when sitting. tips?

Conservative care : Could be an injury to the soft tissue structures within the knee, possibly the meniscus.  I would treat with conservative care: rest, ice, and perhaps Aleve (naproxen) or similar product.  Hopefully it will resolve in short order.

Torn miniscus, bursa: The more common causes of your symptoms are petallar bursitis (the patellar bursa becomes swollen, irritated and painful), and a meniscal tear (tearing of the cartilage disc between the femur and the tib/fib complex.  If it persists for more than a few days, you need to see an orthopedist for an eval and knee MRI.  In the meantime, an adjustable brace would not hurt, and would give support.

i fell backwards into a bath tub a month ago. now my knee hurts the pain increases with sitting or bending and standing. what could this be?

Knee Pain: It sounds like you think the knee pain is related to whatever happened during your fall.    Have you been evaluated?  You should see a sports medicine specialist or orthopedic doctor.
