my husbands left eye is swollen and im wondering why and what i should do?

Depends: Acute swelling, in the absence of trauma (ask him) can be caused by infection or edema related to vascular dysfunction behind the eye.  Does it hurt? Is the vision affected?  Is there a history of sinusitis or nasal trauma?   An ophthalmologist can sort this out.

Hemorrhage: subconjunctival hemorrhage - this occurs when there is bleeding under the superficial covering of the eye.  This can happen when the eye gets really irritated or poked.

Allergic reaction: Sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to something. Often times this can be from pet dander or pollen. The 'jelly' feeling is created from swelling of the conjunctiva or the thin layer of skin over the top of the eye. I would advise taking an OTC antihistamine, ibuprofen, and using cool compresses over the eye. If no improvement, consider prescription for prednisone or similar medication

Eye lump: Since this lump is not inflamed, It is most likely a semifluid or solid cyst called a chalazion rather than a stye. If large it can affect your vision. Otherwise it may need no treatment. An ophthalmologist can evaluate and advise you best.

Lid problem: Symptoms are those of a condition called blepharitis. Try warm compresses at night and perform lid scrubs with baby shampoo. Some times applying an antibiotic to the lid is necessary and will require your seeing an ophthalmologist.

my left eye is swollen and itchy since last night.my throat is also a bit painful and i have mucus in my throat.i have asthma and have been struggling to breathe but it got better since i used my inhaler. is this problem going to go away on it's own?

Hard to predict: The upper airway &amp; throat are the main entrance of your body to new germ invasion. It is also the place where many significant illnesses will start. A sore throat may be minor or strep, uri's can be minor or progress to pneumonia. Time will tell.

Eye irritation: Has many possible causes.  Initially, you can try using over the counter artificial tears or allergy drops on a regular basis.  If this doesn't help, then you should contact your eye doctor to make sure nothing more significant is taking place.
