what is going on with me? if i stand too long i can feel my lower legs start to swell and feel very tight.they look slightly purple while standing.sharp burning pains go thru my heel everyday.my heel hurts worse first thing in the morning.

Veins.: You need to have the vascular status, specifically venous, of your legs evaluated. Sluggish venous return can cause most of the symptoms that you are experiencing. A secondary fascia inflammation may also be occurring in the heel. To remove all doubt, seek an evaluation by a specialist.

have heel pain in left foot when walking on treadmill. have tried different sneakers. goes away after, doesn't linger. no known injuries. any ideas?

Accepted Answer

It's only tissue...: Not the best thing to do. A time will come, and soon, where the pain will linger. Treadmills tend to set you up for overuse injuries, especially in the heel and arch areas. The same cadence and speed over and over tends to stress the connective tissues. Inflammation and pain will soon follow. Remember this conversation in a month when the heel really is a problem.

clean last week ladder collapsed with me on it fell into shower, had x-ray of ankle nothing showed now heel pain burning can't place pressure on ideas?

Accepted Answer

Perhaps occult: Fracture of calcaneus, or heel bone, because sometimes ankle x-rays do not include this bone.  If you are unable to bear weight on the heel, get another medical evaluation and more x-rays.

i woke up with a dime sized re lump on side/bottom of foot. a little sore when stepping down but nothing too terrible. later in the day turned purple. i cant see any bite marks and it doesn't itch. ideas?

Accepted Answer

: Lesion occurred during sleep is likely an insect bite although you do not see the bite mark. Without symptom I only advise observation. You only need to see a healthcare provider if lesion gets bigger or you become symptomatic.

podiatrist said i had plantar fasciitis & i got orthotics. no help. one steroid injection no help. heel pain bad. he seems lax about it. ideas?

Another podiatrist?: For plantar fascia pain or other related symptoms in the arch of the foot, where a patient feels he is not getting better seeing a podiatrist... he may consider getting an opinion from a second podiatrist, sports medicine doctor, or orthopedic MD foot doctor. Treatment includes anti-inflammatories, changing shoes and orthotic inserts, special taping, physical therapy, modifying sports activities.

i'm having heel pain in both feet each time menstruation starts for only the last three months that makes it uncomfortable to walk/stand. no idea why.

Plantar fasciitis: May need more support for feet in form of more supportive shoes or inserts, Perhaps during menstration, you retain more fluid and the added weight may be aggrevating symptoms. Stretching exercises may also be helpful.

my partner foot is red & swollen with purple patches,  yes he had water retention about 2 yrs.no its not going up the leg like cellulitis.  any  idea?

Clotting?: It sounds as if your partner needs appropriate compression garments to reduce edema and swelling but this is best for venous stasis and not necessarily for arterial insufficency. I would be concerned about varicose veins as well as a potential blood clot(s). A peripheral pulse exam and possible ultrasound imaging may be necessary to evaluate possible etiologies.

my right heel pain & redness & it hurt when i put on the floor and i have type one diabetes & i'm overweight. i am 31 years old .what should i do? do i have to er?

Accepted Answer

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It may be plantar fasciitis which is not dangerous, however, given your history of diabetes, it is imperative that infection be ruled out and it would be prudent to see a doctor. If the pain is interfering with your daily life, visit to an ER would be appropriate.

small rash on leg/foot that looks like a cut that has scabbed over, itch at first, then kind of throb hurts then vanishes after a week or two, ideas?

Foot rash: There are many causes of foot rashes which need to be looked at by dermatologist. It is possible to have an allergy to something that touches your foot but on the other hand it's also possible that you have a fungus or eczema problem which could be simply diagnosed & simply explained. I guess you get my drift: you need to dermatologist to figure out the problem by seeing it.

i have heel pain only in one spot. it's the back inner side, where youd likely get scaly callus type skin you scrape off(i dont have that issue). no other area hurts, this area hurts me so bad i feel nauseated?

Achilles tendinitis : This is the area wear the Achilles’ tendon is attached. If you did not bruise the area tendinitis is then considered. Wearing high heeled shoes on regular basis can shorten the muscle/tendon.   Stretching the muscle properly may help.     heel lifts to both shoes may help take tension off the tendon. Icing and anti-inflammatory medication( ibuprofen or Aleve can help.
