The "bend" can involve either one or both bones in the toe, the joint between them or possibly the ball of the foot. The bending can occur in any direction, but a side-to-side deviation is probably most common. This type of conditioned can be either be inherited or acquired later in life and may even be considered normal.

: If there's no swelling the toe probably wasn't broken. A sprain is more likely. Bruises would suggest a torn ligament. If the pain or tenderness doesn't gradually improve consult a podiatrist for diagnosis&amp;treatment. In the meantime wear comfortable footwear,apply alternating cold &amp;hot applications,elevate the foot when you can. Anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen could help.

Where is fracture?: If big toe, buddy tape may not help, since the big tow is important for step off - you push off the ground with your big toe, and the second toe will not be able to keep the big toe from moving.

Was an xray taken?  If so, what are the results?

You need to make sure you do not have movement at the fracture site - any motion will cause pain and if it moves, it will not heal.
