: Your concern is real. You are seeing early signs of edema in the leg. Many causes for this. Best to see family doctor   FYI. No “real” swelling is still swelling.  Any swelling is still swelling.

DVT upper extremity: It could be a blood clot in the superficial or deep veins or both superficial and deep veins and the only way to know is to get a noninvasive scan called a Duplex venous ultrasound. I suggest that you get one as soon as possible.

I : I recommend that you should go to your primary care physician so that he can check it and refer for possible doppler ultrasound to rule out the clot if necessary. Clot usually dont present as a knot, it may present as pain, redness , swelling in calf(common in calf but can be any part of lower extremity).Knot can be caused by many other reasons also like injury. But to be on safe side please consult your physician.Thanks.

Ganglion?: The most common hard lumps found in the hand are not clots but rather ganglion cysts which originate from joints especially around the junction of the wrist and hand.  These cysts have a jel like substance and frequently require surgery for removal.  Clots in the hand  veins are usually the result of trauma.  You may want to see a hand surgeon or vein specialist.

Stabilizes: It actually keeps it from growing larger and the body's own processes act to "chew up" the clot - called fibrinolysis.

Probably not: Trauma can cause injury to veins and or their flow. However the trauma would have to be significant enough to break a bone or do tissue damage. A minor impact would not likely cause a blood clot, but it is always a good idea to get it checked out by a doctor.

Could be: depending on exact location.  Only way to know for sure is with careful exam and imaging tests if necessary.  Anticoagulants might be advisable, so see a doctor for specific adivce.

Blood clot : I wouldnt chance it. The clot could break loose and cause major problems.However, check with your doctor and get his opinion.
