Maybe, maybe not: Levothyroxine can interact with multiple other drugs and supplements. Other medications can often be taken safely with it, but may need to be taken at another time of day. Your doctor or pharmacist can evaluate your specific situation.

my patient is 92 years old. he would like to know if mineral is ok to take every day he has constipation because hes on a few medications. im also using starting today vital fiber starting today. he feels like he needs something more at times?

Accepted Answer

: Mineral oil has the tendency to prevent absorption of some vitamins. I would use a water retaining material like Miralax if he was going to use something on a regular basis. It doesn't interfere with anything of importance.

ive been taking atorvastatin and recently started to experience chills. i believe its due to the medication. what could be causing this in terms of vitamin mineral nutrition loss? if i stop the medication do the side effects just go away?

Accepted Answer

Possible: Atorvastatin &amp; other “statin”  drugs (usually taken to lower cholesterol) can commonly cause muscle pain (myalgia) which usually resolves when the medication is stopped, but chills are not often reported. If you have an actual fever (take temperature) or any respiratory, bowel or urinary symptoms, call  Dr, but if only “chills” you could try stopping Med for couple weeks to see if chills resolve

All are fine: Anything in a normal vitamin and mineral supplement is fine while you're on high blood pressure rx.

i am taking the following medications: citalopram 15mg, loratadine 10mg, microgestin fe 1/20, multivit/mineral supp, calc/mag/zinc. do these drugs interact? which can i take at the same time?

Accepted Answer

No: I looked on a medication interaction checker and these do not appear to interact with each other.  You can take then all at the same time or in any combination you choose.

minereas disease i have minereas disease and was told i had a twisted artery in my neck could this be effecting the minereas because now no medication works dizzy and ringing in ears pretty much constant  can't take many more 8 hours of vomiting

You : You are probaly referring to meniere's disease, an inner ear problem that causes dizziness and vertigo and frequently loss of hearing. It is felt due to an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the ear and can be difficult to treat. It is not a vascular problem. See wikipedia for an excellent explanation.

None: There is no proven supplement that is both safe and effective to cause weight loss.Exercise and proper dieting are tha answers.Talk to doctor to find the right program for you.

Accepted Answer

Several options: It all depends on the location and severity of your disease. You also need blood work and a PPD (TB) test before certain meds can be used. Sometimes you may need high dose steroids depending on the severity of the disease. Please discuss with your GI doc.

Immune suppression: 1. 5-asa medications (sulfasalazine, asacol, (mesalamine) pentasa) may take the edge of symptoms, they do not adequately treat crohn's disease. 
2. Steroids work, but are only useful for short course because of side effects.
3. Azathioprine (imuran), 6-mp, Methotrexate are often effective, and reduce the need for steroids
4. Remicade, Humira are very effective at treating fistulas or severe crohn's.
