A member asked:

Ive been taking atorvastatin and recently started to experience chills. i believe its due to the medication. what could be causing this in terms of vitamin mineral nutrition loss? if i stop the medication do the side effects just go away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible: Atorvastatin & other “statin” drugs (usually taken to lower cholesterol) can commonly cause muscle pain (myalgia) which usually resolves when the medication is stopped, but chills are not often reported. If you have an actual fever (take temperature) or any respiratory, bowel or urinary symptoms, call Dr, but if only “chills” you could try stopping Med for couple weeks to see if chills resolve
