Retention cysts: Mucus retention cysts in the sinuses are common. As many as 30-40% of asymptomatic patients will have cysts of the sinuses on ct scans. The majority of these shrink without treatment or don’t change over time. Without symptoms or complications, observation is the best course to take. Thickening of turbinates can mean anything, from allergy to anatomic variance.

It can gradually enlarge, but not necessarily. It is unrelated to your nasal congestion. This is something you need to discuss with your otolaryngologist further about long term treatment and follow-up.
