i had a mucocele/ mucus retention cyst surgery on my lower lip 3 days ago. was wondering when it is safe to have a cigarette? is it also safe to take multi vitamins to help healing?

Wait!: It takes seven to ten days for wounds to close, and you should be as gentle as possible to the area. There is no question that having the correct vitamins helps healing. However, why not use this as an opportunity to stop smoking.  I can not stress firmly enough what a terrible habit it is.

We see them often: Causes of retention cysts are unknown; as much as we think allergy plays a role others appear to have no association. . Usually they aren't painful themselves; but they can enlarge, block passages and contribute to formation of sinus infections, similar to nasal polyps. Headaches? Maybe. Depends. Usually not. Options: oral steroids, surgery, allergy shots; some recommend do nothing. See ENT.

Cyst under nail: If it is painful ask your doc to remove the nail (under local anesthesia,of course). It will grow back, and the relief will be immediate.

Hmm: Not likely, but possible.  If it is significantly on the inside of the lip not likely.  Even if it is closer, it will not likely change appearance.  However, if it is big and there is a lot of dissection, the scar tissue might change the appearance slightly.

See Plastic Surgeon: A qualified plastic surgeon will conceal the incision(-s) so they are minimally visible or not visible. The stitches do not stay for more than a few days, so do not impact the final appearance--same with mild swelling after the procedure. Talk to plastic surgeon.

Not necessary to: Remove a mucous retention cyst is not necessarily the cause of your sinus problems.  I take ct scans all day and we see a lot of mucous retention cysts with little correlation to symptoms.  If you are going to have it out just know that your symptoms will probably not improve .  Many university radiologists that read scans will advise against treatment because of the high reoccurrence rate

Could be Bartholin's: cyst, or a infected lesion.  Please see a healthcare provider and get it diagnosed properly.

x-ray finding the lesion are in line of a mucocele on gum.dr said it is cyst.its being18 months.cyst looks smaller now it is dangerous?

No: If it is a mucocele they are benign ,in other words not dangerous and good it is getting smaller.Obviously you have seen someone since you had an xray so keep follow up.If you are anxious about it you could get a second opinion or not.If continues to get smaller or stays the same size that is reassuring.

Maybe: Maybe, but you have to see an oral surgeon/dentist to rule out other significant problems.
