how do you feel about the diet plan called medifast.?

Meal replacement...: The Medifast plan works by restricting calories with meal replacements (such as shakes).  Although, effective at reducing weight - these plans do not address the issues that led to weight gain, don't teach healthy food choices, may detrimentally affect metabolism, and ultimately end up with weight returning (often to more than it was before) when stopped. I'd advise adapting healthy clean eating!

i recently was on the medifast diet. i have taken 2 drug tests for a new job. both negative dilute.  how long will it take to test normal?

Don't drink: I don't think the medifast is the issue. You should drink less when going for drug test if you are having dilute specimens.

Try Jenny Craig: Recent research revealed the 2 best diets are Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig.  However, nothing beats true and lasting lifestyle changes that include regular exercise and eating fresh, non-processed foods that are low in sugar and sodium.

i am currently on medifast a diet plan that is 800-1000 calories a day and 75-85 carbs im on a night schedule need to flip it around is it save to not eat to stay up all night and flip my schedule or should i eat?

You need energy: to fuel your activities when you are awake. The Medifast program can work but it is a very low amount of calories and you need to eat all of them. Take in about 200 calories every two hours while you are awake, whether it is at night or during day. It will be OK to go without food when you are sleeping. Hope this helps...Good wishes:)

53yo female on medifast diet. their food contains iron. yearly lipid, a1c cmp,cbc,ck, tsh all perfect except for alt of 39and bun/creatine ratio of 24 is more testing recommended? or could it be iron related? my alt last year was 19.

Retest in 1-2 months: Low grade elevations in transaminases (ALT/AST &lt;5x upper limit of normal) are common, and there are many things that can cause them to go up.  It's probably not related to dietary iron.  I would suggest having your LFT's checked again in 1-2 months.  If it is still elevated your PCP can do a workup for the most common causes of elevated Transaminases.

There are none: Weight loss products are generally a waste of money and,they do not speed up the process.  Quick weight loss is rarely a good idea anyway because the loss is not maintained.  In fact, people often gain the,weight back plus some more.  Your best bet is a healthy diet with regular cardio exercise.  Keep your weight loss to 2lbs or less weekly for the best chance at maintaining.

Diet and exercise: The best weight loss product is lifestyle change and exercise. There aren't any products that you can take that will lead to long-term success if you do not change your lifestyle and eat accordingly. Exercise can be part of that long-term plan but careful attention to your calories and to the types of food you eat needs to occur if you are to maintain your weight loss. I would avoid wasting money.

The one you DON'T: Take, because they're all a waste of money and don't do anything for you. The only weight you'll lose is in your wallet. Besides, who knows what's in them and what harm it could do to you? The only way to lose and keep it off is to learn to eat less and exercise more, it's 3500 calories to the pound. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet.

been on medifast for 4 mths, lost 40 pds. ate a big meal today checked bg 200. dr did regular test last week fasting bg 93. not diabetic why so high?

Accepted Answer

Timing.: I suspect that the high may be due to timing of the glucose test.  There not many standards for glucose testing prior to 2 hours after a meal.  If the test was at 2 hours, you may have diabetes.
