Still low: Even though 39 is considered Advanced maternal age, the risk of miscarriage after 12 weeks is still very low.  The chances of there being a chromosomal abnormality in the embryo is only appx 1 in 40 or so.  A heartbeat, which you've likely seen by now, decreases the risk of miscarriage by a lot. Before 12 weeks: I and others have published data which show that if a pregnancy is viable and normal at 10 weeks, the risk of miscarriage is less than 5%.  Most abnormal pregnancies will miscarry prior to this time, or have abnormalities at the time of the 10 week ultrasound.

Smelly solvents: The fact is that men who are exposed to smelly solvents at work have lower sperm counts and their partners have higher miscarriage rates.   Respirators and gloves are crucial.

Risk?: To my knowledge, your having been treated by any modality / modalities for the thyroid cancer last year won't be any extra danger to your unborn child.

Yes.: After a miscarriage, we advise for you to wait one natural cycle before you try to conceive; this allows the endometrium (the lining of the uterus) to build back up appropriately so that implantation can occur. Make sure you are on a prenatal vitamin.

Clomid (clomiphene) complications: Clomid (clomiphene) increases the risk of multiple eggs during induced ovulation, and some of those eggs that get fertilized often have an abnormal genetic composition resulting sometimes resulting in "miscarriage". Any twin gestation can have breech presentation at labor with the need for C/S for safe delivery. However, Clomid (clomiphene) also can produce pregnancies in those who otherwise couldn't get pregnant.

She be fine: My guess is that your OB is worried that your blood sugars is getting too low.  It never hurts to clarify with him/her why they changed to dose, but sometimes we do have to lower it.

You can't.: The definition of a miscarriage is a pregnancy loss before 20 weeks.  At 7 months if the baby were to be born dead it would be a stillbirth, if alive, premature birth.  At 28 weeks the chance of survival of the infant is 95%, although it is likely there will be long term complications like eye problems and lung problems.  1st trimester goes from 20% to 5% after heartbeat seen, < 1 % after 1st tm.
