Define "forever.": If you stop using it, your hair will go back to the way it was before you started using it - but that doesn't mean you're stuck with it "forever." it means you need to keep using it until a better, more permanent hair loss treatment is invented. That could be next week or 10 years from now, but not "forever.".

It's safe: Despite the labeling in the opinion of most derms it's safer and most effective, in fact the foam is likely the most effective for both men and women.

See a dermatologist: At age 22, you may be experiencing hair loss due to genetics, or anabolic steroid abuse. A more complete approach to your hair loss problem, irregardless of the cause, would be Minoxidil 2.5 mg orally daily, and Proscar 5 mg tablets. You need to quarter the Proscar tablets via a pill cutter from your local pharmacy, and this will equal 1.25 mg of finasteride, i.e. Propecia.

45 yo male with foliculitis of the scalp for years. using avar wash and topical antibiotic ointment. always had thin hair. considering using rogaine and irestore but not sure if foliculitis treatment will be affected, or if the foliculitis thins?

Dermatologist: Input is recommended, there are several reasons for hair loss, and you are using medications that might interact with the laser of irestore, as for rogaine, it might not interact, but might not be of benefit, so better see a dermatologist, and can start with your primary doctor for initial assessment, best wishes

Rogaine (minoxidil) does work: Rogaine (minoxidil) does work.  It was originally thought to help with high blood pressure but wasnt very good.  The side effect was hair growth.  However your problem is not hair loss.  You have hair damage and in time your hair should grow back.  Make sure to aleays discuss your wants with the hair dresser and stay in the moment.  If you are texting and so are they then whos watching your hair?

hi i have oily scalp sometimes flaky scalp and hair loss as well my hair get very thin specially from crown area (visible crown skin) specially after eating citrus fruits ive tried minoxidil and propecia for 2 years no improvement..any suggestions.?

: your problem is not related to citrus. If minoxidil is not helping it might be male pattern baldness. consult a dermatologist for confirmation

Yes: Yes! Prednisone - short term, no! high dose or long term- yes!  in rheumatology use, always side effects!  Prednisone is an animal model for aging: thin skin, thin hair, a belly, muscle loss, etc. Mimcs metabolic syndrome!

It is possible: Neither show hair thinning as common reactions however anything is possible. I would try it and see what happens! Remember, hair thinning might have other causes as well, talk to your doctor about this.
