if it helps; yes: If you have tried it and it helps you you will prob. Need to do it life long. If it does not help then other methods of pain relief will be needed. There is no cure.

No: Discs typically do not heal. However, that doesn't mean that you can't live pain-free. A ruptured disk will often shrink away from a nerve. A herniated or bulging disk as you call it can move around but bouncing on a ball does not promise which direction it moves. If you are having symptoms, see a physical therapist or chiropractor.

Prone on Elbows: Hi TamaraR, It is always best to be evaluated by a competent specialist prior to starting exercises. Generally, pain can be relieved by stretching exercises that arch your back. You can lay down prone with elbows resting on the ground and arch your back for 3-5 min at a time. If you have symptoms such as weakness then it may be urgent to see a specialist.

Several things : That have been demonstrated aboit disc herniations include the fact that 66% of them shrink or resolve by 6 monthsvas demonstrated by sequential mris.  90% of disc herniations are treated non operatively while bulging discs are normal and not problematic. Regular exercise, weight control as well as not smoking are key to maintaining a healthy back.

Finger numbness : Numbness in the fingers as it relates to the neck usually causes compression of the spinal cord or cervical myelopathy. Numbness without spinal cord compression may indicate an impingement of the ulnar nerve at the elbow (cubital tunnel syndrome) or impingement of the median nerve at the wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome). An EMG of the upper extremities will establish the cause of the numbness.

See below: There is probably not too much at this point besides trying to lie down and rest if the neck is really bothering you. Once you see your doctor, hopefully you will get a treatment plan that will help you.

Complex history: RSchaefer ~ it seems you are in good hands having had the MRI and being scheduled for  botox. The only Drs capable of dealing with this type of complexity are neurologists, so best advice I can give is check in with a well known Neurologist and then stick with him as best results come from ONE competent doctor assisted by subspecialists. thanks

Same as back pain as: Bulges are fairly normal findings on an imaging study and are not sources of the pain.  So there is no indication to operate on a disc that is only bulging as its only finding or presentation.  Therefore, the pain source is not likely to be this but most typical back pains-even ones due to a disc herniation get better within weeks with 90% treated without any surgery.
