Bend: The presumptive normal appearance of a spine on a front to back x-ray is a straight line, top to bottom. A slight bend in the form of an S (drifting away from center &amp; back) is common &amp; often arises during the rapid growth of adolescence. By itself it is an incidental finding of no particular importance.

Most : Most likely you will always have some curvature.  Bracing can reduce the chances of a curve progressing, but usually doesn't reduce the curve.  Surgery can reduce the curve if the curve is large enough to require it.

Curve from pain: People can have a mild scoliosis or curve in their spine caused by the muscle spasms that cause pain. In that situation the spine turns toward the pain, since the muscles involved are shortened. Mild scoliosis in an adult is rarely a cause of pain. You should be looking to another source for its origin.

i've had back pain caused by a ligament strain. i also have mild scoliosis, 15% curvature. could the scoliosis have caused the ligament strain?

UNlikely: The scoliosis is fixed and will not cause the ligamentous strain. The ligamentous strain is caused by activity. The scoliosis can contribute to back pain and other problems but for someone your age it is not serious.

Scoliosis: Management of the scoliosis depends on the severity(degree of curvature), your age, and possibly other clinical factors.  If the scoliosis is mild, it may only require observation.  If severe, surgical treatment may be recommended.  In children, bracing is sometimes utilized, but not so effective in adults who have stopped growing.

No: Bavkward bemding is called lordosis forwardis kyphosis. Most thoracic scoliosis flattens out the nomal foward bending hypokyphoisis. Kyphosis is poorly tolerated makes your back work harder to stand.

Any degree: Any degree is scoliosis. But many people live  with mild scoliosis with no consequences.  Only if it's over 25 degrees in an adolescent it must be monitored  and treated if it's over 40 degrees.

Progression: A truly mild scoliosis usually is almost completely asymptomatic and does not cause any problems.  The only significance of a mild curve is that, if the person is still growing, the curve can progress, and so should be followed.  Thank you for the question.
