started itching 12 hours after first dose of augmentin. no rash just itching a little. should i take again? nevert have had a reaction to amoxiciilin.

No: It would be most prudent and cautious for you to take this itching symptom as a potential sign of drug allergy  ... it may not be, but stop the Augmentin and contact your prescribing doctor. Often times the initial symptom of an allergy is mild, but then that first exposure triggers a stronger reaction for the next dose! I predict your doctor will want to prescribe an alternative medication.

i have a recurring bracial cleft cyst that has been treated with augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate).   now that the med has run its course i am experiencing extreme itching especially after showering.  i have been off the meds for 4 days.

Call physician: You may have a delayed hypersensitivity reaction. I would advise Benadryl- 2 tablets every 6 hrs. as needed and watching for signs of lip/facial swelling.

Yeast infx likely.: You are right!  This sounds like a yeast infection.  Augmentin (amox-clav) is notorious for causing these.  Use one of the over the counter vaginal yeast medications.  If it is no better in 3-5 days, get checked. Do see your doc in 10 days anyway to make sure both the UTI and yeast infection have resolved.  If you have abdominal pain, mid back pain, fever, etc. get seen right away.

Neither yet: Both of these antibiotics are essentially the same thing with varying dose of amoxacillin. I generally recommend taking antibiotics for an infection. If you have redness, swelling, heat/fever, and pain then you can start on either antibiotic but until then you can keep the piercings clean and apply antibiotic oinment.
