i started a medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack for poison ivy yesterday. i took 4 of the 6 pills (i forgot the last 2 at bedtime because i fell asleep).what should i do?

i have a sinus infection and am on methylprednisolone. last night i fell asleep before taking my bedtime dosage; just realized it now that i took my morning dosage. how do i catch up? can i take the 2 missed pills with my after lunch dosage?

Depends on details: There's no strict rule about how to do this. Also, it depends on the illness, the patient, the drug dose, etc... Sometimes, especially milder cases, a patient might not need to "catch up." Other times, such as in bad asthma attacks, the doctor may want the patient to "catch up." A lot of times, people just do an "in between," such as taking 1 of the 2 missed pills and ignoring the other one.

i missed my lunch dose for the 4th day if my methylprednisolone pack and figured i could take the lunch and sleep one together so i did  am i ok ?

Try to take them: Early in the day. Doses do not have to be split. If taken in the second part of the day they may affect your sleep.

Yes: the medrol can make you more hyper and therefore make it harder for you to sleep, so Xanax (alprazolam) may be helpful

Sleepless: Common for a steroid to cause a degree of insomnia. The medicine should wash out in a few days and you should return to a good night sleep. If this does not improve in a week, you should notify your provider.

i've been on methylprednisolone for 2 weeks. 1st week was 16mg/day and 2nd was 12mg/day, now having trouble sleeping. any suggestion?

It's common. : Sleeplessness and jitteriness is a common side effect is methylpredisone. Practicing good sleep hygiene will help. As the dose decreases and you continue to wean of the medication this will resolve. Be patient and it will get better.

i was given methylprednisolone and z-pack for bronchitis with asthma today. i cannot sleep. can i take a xanax (alprazolam) to help sleep?

Yes: Most probably your insomnia is due to the methylprednisolone, so take it in the morning. Try to space Azithromycin, take it at night, and the methylprednisolone in the am, as they may interact, all the best

im taking xefo 8mg and its not helping. the only time i dont feel pain is when im sleeping with the help of sleeping pills?

Just a minute: The desire to end it all is not normal to begin with. If you are in so much pain, psychic or physical that you wish to end your life, you need to talk to a professional as soon as possible. There are always other options. Call someone immediately to talk this out.

Addiction/tolerance: Some sleeping pills are controlled substances; they have addictive potential. Examples include: ambien, lunesta, (eszopiclone) & restoril. That being said, they are schedule IV with lower potential for this than other medications the more common issue with sleeping pills is developing physiological tolerance. Frequent use of the medication causes your body to 'get used to' the medication & it loses efficacy.
