PCOS: If pcos is your correct diagnosis, then metformin can help with ttc. There are other steps you can take with a good doctor's guidance if this doesn't get the job done.

It helps, not sure : If you have the so-called polycystic ovarian syndrome and Insulin resistance problem with lower chance of fertility, the use of metformin can help, but no one really knows how truly effective it is or how long it takes. You could be pregnant tomorrow, next month, in 6 months, a year, or even never. It is frustrating, but hang in there. Wt loss can help. Consult doc regularly and good luck to you.

Not the same: Clomid (clomiphene) is a nonsteroidal medication that causes the pituitary glands to stimulate ovulation. Metformin suppresses glucose production from the liver. Metformin is used for pcos pts that have irregular menses often with insulin resistance. Metformin can help some weight loss and regulate menses to help regular ovulation.

why is glucophage (metformin) and parlodel used for treating fertility? can it also rides my progesterone levels?

Glucophage, (metformin) parlodel: The doctor who prescribed those medicines for you  - I an not sure why - must explain the reasons for these meds. If the doctor gives you a hard time for asking this - see a diffierent gynecologist!

Weight loss?: If you are overweight, losing weight will help your ovulation. Also, if your periods are irregular or absent the drug, clomiphene, can be more helpful than even metformin (for getting pregnant).

is it ok to take 4g of inositol daily in addition to my 300 mg welbutrin xl & 500 mg 2x metformin? i take them to control pcos/increase fertility

Meds: Are you sure you need any or all of those meds. Please discuss with your primary doctor.
Have your doctor tell you what each of the three meds are for.

PCOS and pregnancy: Pcos often causes infertility, however with vigorous proper treatment many women can get pregnant.  Everyone is different.  Pcos is often associated with being overweight, excess androgen secretion, hyperinsulinism, metabolic syndrome and hormone abnormalities.  It is advisable to see specialists with a major interest in pcos.  Diet, weight control, ample exercise and medications are indicated.

what are the chances of getting pregnant on metformin? pcos. i had a panel of blood tests done (to test for fertility). everything was normal, except for my testosterones, which is just a little above normal, so high but not extreme. not diabetic?

: While "PCOS" frequently will be accompanied by non-ovulation, making pregnancy and menstruation  rare to absent, a slight elevation in testosterone is not unusual in true PCOS, but occasional ovulation may occur.  Obtain a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for possible ovulation induction and other fertility testing if pregnancy is desired.
