can anyone tell me does radiation or chemo actually offer a decent quality of life for the limited life expectancy of a stage 4 glioma brain tumor?

Yes: For many patients (not all) surgery, then radiation with chemotherapy, and "maintenance" chemotherapy can give a good quality of life for a period of time for patients with grade IV astrocytomas.  Half of all patients with current best therapy for these tumors live over a year, and most of that time should be reasonably good quality unless the tumor has caused irreversible neurological deficits.

Not a simple answer: The type of drug to treat a metastatic brain tumor depends on the type of tumor.  Drugs to treat metastatic breast cancer are very different than those used to treat malignant melanoma which are different than those used to treat lung cancer metastasis to the brain.

what should i expect next with this situation?  metastatic brain tumors (35) and spinal fluid tumors (3). i know it is terminal and late stage.

Depends: If this is a radio sensitive lung cancer such as oat / small cell consider treatment with the possibility of a fairly good survival for maybe even a year. Possibly: This is a problem that necessitates a face-to-face meeting with your doctor.  This will allow him/her to examine you, ask specific questions. And possibly order tests to find out what's wrong and what to do to help you.

Accepted Answer

Too many factors: To answer that question here. The type of tumor, tumor aggressiveness, whether its a primary brain tumor or metastasis, and other medical conditions of the patient all play into that calculus. Your neurosurgeon or oncologist may be able to give you some general guidelines.

i'm 19. i'm worried about cancers and brain tumors? chances of it and symptoms? i want a long life. how can i live to old age? no cancer history.

Are you a worrier: in general? Do you tend to focus time or energy on health related fears?  The chances of a person developing cancer during their lifetime varies greatly depending on which cancer it is &amp; possible risk factors. Aim for daily exercise, 8 hours of sleep per night &amp; good nutrition w 5 servings of veggies &amp; 4 of fruit per day. Try tai chi, yoga, Qi Gong or  progressive muscle relaxation.

Depends entirely: On size, rate of growth, and your symptoms.  Without knowing details, it is impossible to say more.  Consult a neurosurgeon with all details for specific answers to your questions.

my past and present condition: on march or april 2012 i was operated for brain tumor (benign), i am living a normal life now. however, there's some atrophy going on due to depakote (i'm an epilepsy patient). am i at a higher risk for covid-19?

COVID 19: Having had a brain tumor is not a risk factor for having worse outcome with COVID 19. People undergoing a variety of different types of treatments for brain cancer can be at increased risk.  (Like immunosuppressive drugs, protein kinase inhibitors, chemotherapy (currently or in last 3 months) or immunotherapy)

do brain tumors respond to otc medicine?

Accepted Answer

Sorry, no way: Unfortunately, many brain tumors are somewhat  resistant to newer meds, and may or may not respond to steroids and irradiation.  But, a variety of tumors do respond to surgical extirpation.  Would be nice to have a otc approach, but doubt we will ever find a simple approach like that.
