Both to start: You can take both to start.  Once you get things moving, stop the MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) and continue the metamucil.  Also, i want you to increase the natural fiber in your diet - this will help keep your bms soft and regular.

happy fourth of july doctors! i seem to get occasional constipation, but when i eat dairy my bowel movements are looser. can i take something like benefiber or metamucil or miralax to keep my bowel movements similar to how they are after i eat dairy?

MiraLAX : Adding fiber to your diet along with using supplements like Benefiber or Metamucil are very good for general colon health. In addition MiraLAX can be used on a daily basis until bowel movements are restored and then you can use it less frequently. B sure that you were having your regular colon cancer screening tests through your primary doctor. Daily probiotics over-the-counter also help.
