Itching, pain, more: Hemorrhoids are like varicose veins of the rectum. They can swell and bulge, and - when irritated by the passage of stool - bleed. People with hemorrhoids are often a bit constipated, some or all of the time. Hemorrhoids can itch as they heal, and when they bleed, they result in everything from dots of bright red blood on the toilet paper after wiping. Get an exam, and don't ignore rectal bleeding.

Depends: If this is an acute thrombosed hemorrhoid with swelling this usually resolves in a week or so on it's own.  For more chronic problems see a colon and rectal surgeon for evaluation, and depending on anatomy they can offer you the best treatment . Ps also need evaluation to assure that these are indeed hemorrhoids and not something else. Hope this helps.

Exam: A hemorrhoid is a dilated vessel in or around the anus/rectum. Herpes is a viral infection that results in painful blisters and ulcers of the affected skin.  Herpes could arise in or on the anus and rectum but would be quite distinguishable from hemorrhoids.

Won't hurt, but...: "healing" depends on whether the original cause for hemorrhoids persists.  Have you been straining at stool, have rectal dysfunction, perform an activity that increases pelvic engorgement with blood or increases pelvic pressure (heavy lifting, prolonged sitting, etc.)?  Have your hemorrhoids been surgically or medically managed (; with otc or prescription drugs)? Are you sure they're hemorrhoids?

Fiber and fluids : And cut out caffeine in all forms and minimize alcohol intake, stop reading on the toilet, avoid constipation and diarrhea, drink 80-100 o8unhces of fluids per day, more if you exercise or sweat a lot on the job.

Yes but-: It is not indicated for Crohns (it is for ulcerative colitis) but I have had results with it.

Yes: but the ones that work are prescription meds. Try warm tub soaks and high fiber diet, drink 80-100 oz caffeine free alcohol free fluid daily and this should help. If not see your doctor or a colon and rectal surgeon
