having anxiety over getting mirena (levonorgestrel) taken out i've read about mirena (levonorgestrel) crash this scares me i already have anxiety does this happen i need it out soon?

Uncommon: If you noted an improvement of your anxiety after your Mirena (levonorgestrel) was placed, you could see some mild fluctuations of anxiety after removal. However, both of these situations are very uncommon. Let your doctor know about your concerns so you can both be on top of the situation. However, I doubt that you will see major changes.  If you don't want to get pregnant you could have another one placed.

Should not: There is not scientific evidence to support the IUD that Mirena (levonorgestrel) removal would lead to psychiatric symptoms. The Progesterone level of Mirena (levonorgestrel) is very low and typically only has a local effect on the endometrial lining

Unclear: You'll have to wait until you miss a period to know.  It's possible you'll get pregnant b4 you have a cycle, so keep that in the back of your mind as well.

See your Gyn: May be pregnancy as Mirena (levonorgestrel) does not have any effect on ovarian function. Also could you happen to have a cyst? Thus ultrasound is very warranted.  Menses may take 1-2 months to return.

Mirena IUD: Some patients experience mild cramping in the first few hours after Mirena insertion. Ibuprofen is typically sufficient to provide relief. Most are pain free soon after insertion.

It is safe: It is safe to use a pill and the Mirena at the same time. It will not mix anything up. Many women actually choose to do this because they like the superior contraceptive effect of the Mirena, but use the pill to help their skin. It is totally safe to do so!

Diet/exercise: Mirena can cause weight gain due to hormonal effectis. Cut out carbs, cross train and reduce portions to 5 small meals/day.

Doubt it: Many GPs will have both the training &amp; experience to remove an IUD. A call to the office nurse may clarify if such procedures are part of the care offered. Some may defer this when it is not a practice common in the region.

Irregular bleeding: Some women after Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD insertion will have irregular bleeding and spotting that eventually stops in 2 to 3 months and then will have decreased bleeding or no bleeding at all the rest of the 5 years. Patience is all that is necessary. Some women will have minimal cramping for a few days to a month. The risk of spontaneous expulsion and perforation is very low, less than 1%. Ideal contraceptive
