Hard to tell: B/c of how the nerves to the pelvic organs work, it's hard to tell if the cervix is really dilating (it shouldn't dilate much at all, just enough to let blood or clots out), but the pain can definitely "refer" to the vagina and buttocks/rectum.  Ibuprofen usually helps, and if this is a regular problem with all your periods, birth control pills may help decrease this pain a lot.

Uncertain: Reasons for irregularity include weight gain or loss, breastfeeding, alcohol use, eating disorders, marked emotional stress, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, cervical polyps, polycystic ovarian syndrome, excessive exercise &amp; pregnancy. When a girl has just started menstruating &amp; around the time of menopause periods can be irregular.

Start of one to next: If i understand your question, by convention, a menstrual cycle is defined from the first day of menstrual bleeding as day one.  The next period will start some 23-35 days (28 day average) after the start of the first.  At that point, you start again with 'day one" of the next cycle.  Saying they calculate suggests that they can predict their next cycle, but only if they are very regular.

Pregnancy worries?: For fertile women who are having sex... it can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A home urine pregnancy test gives a accurate result. One can test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), 1 week after missing a period, or 1 week after starting a "weird" period.

More: Women need more iron in their diet when they menstruate becuase iron in the blood is lost thru menstruation. A diet supplement with 325 mg of iron sulfate is a good idea. Have your dr do a complete blood count and iron profile to determine your iron status. If low, he may suggest iron supplementation.
Meat (red) is a good source of iron.

Menstrual cycles : Menstrual cycles differ in every woman. The length of the cycle can vary from 21-35 days and may involve anything from spotting to heavy bleeding. Various life stressors can change the cycle from month to month. Pregnancy, new meds, illness, travel, weight gain/loss, excessive exercise, STD's, endometriosis, and Polyps can cause changes in periods. Talk to your Dr if the problem lasts more than 6m

If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections, polyps, fibroids and hormonal changes can cause spotting.  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. see a doctor: Secondary amenorrhea is usually due to pregnancy but obviously in your case there is something else going on.  You need to see your ob/gyn and get this worked up.

Sorry : Sorry to answer your question with more questions but: did you have your prolactin level tested and what was it? If it was elevated and causing suppression of ovulation, yes, you will likely begin to ovulate after discontinuation of the medication but it may take a few weeks.
