It depends.: Occasionally your pain can be worse after an injection like an epidural steroid injection (esi).  Occasionally you have had a period of less pain and when the original pain comes back it feels worse.  Rarely its a complication related to the injection like an epidural hematoma or infection.In those with symptomatic pain, there is 70% likelihood that the pain will be adequately managed with esis.

See a Doc: The first thing to do is to get it checked out. For my patients this involves an office visit where i take a detailed history of the problem and ask some very particular questions. This helps me sort things out a bit. Then I do a good physical examination which includes the spine, the joints, and the neurological system. If there have been any kind of xrays or mris or labs we review that.

You had a procedure: It is not unusual to experience temporary increase in pain after a lumbar injection. The pain should be lessening  after a few days. If this does not happen or your pain increases consult your physician immediately.

OMM: The causes of low back pain can be difficult to diagnose by scans and x-rays. Since all your tests are normal, you might consider finding a do who treats low back pain with osteopathic manipulation and see what they are able to do for you. Omm has been shown in studies to be effective in treating low back pain, often without less need for medication or surgery.

There are many: There is no one magic exercise for low back pain relief. Step one is to know the cause. A muscular strain should respond to slow, controlled stretches-back, hip and leg. Overall, i would recommend yoga.

Yoga would be great: As long as you have had your chronic lumbar pain properly worked up, I am fine with yoga. Do your homework and find a yoga instruction that is familiar and has worked with low back patients. You must start at the beginner level and go slowly. Do not do painful poses and work within your range of movement.  Remember when you first start, there could be muscle soreness. Go slow and easy will be fine.

MRI: Mri of the lumbar spine is an excellent exam for evaluating the cause of pain.  It can show herniated discs, fractured, spinal cord pathology, compressed nerve roots, masses, previous surgical changes, and disease of the surrounding structures.
