: Diclofenac can be tough if taken on an empty stomach. For now eat only soft,bland foods and take a medication like pepcid to shut off acid in your stomach lining which should result in improvement in a couple of days or so. Be sure to take diclofenac with food when your stomach is feeling better. I predict that your stomach symptoms will improve and you'll be able to resume diflofenac in 2 days

YEs but,: only apply a very thin film of the gel topically to the affected area and always take the pill on a full stomach. Please only use these in combination under a doctor's supervision.

Probably: There isn't a direct comparison in any objective study.  However, the maximal FDA recommended dose of meloxicam is 15 mg/day while the maximal dose of Arthrotec (diclofenac and misoprostol) is 150 mg/day so you can draw your own conclusions.

: They are both Non-steroidals. help with inflammation. Some work better on person than an other.

: Selection of medications for arthritis is a balancing act...strength vs safety. As they get get stronger they tend to come with greater risk of side effects. Meloxicam is one of the safest. Essentially every other med selected that would be stronger than Meloxicam would come with added risk and be a less safe option. The choice to take that risk is one you make with the guidance of your doctor.

Efficacy : Which one is best is a matter of which one works better for you. Osteoarthritis is a wear and tear condition, where you may or may not have a component of inflammation. If inflammation is present, any of them may help.

: Yes, you can do that.
However, I am strongly against chronic use of any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug - NSAID, such as diclofenac, meloxicam, aleve, ibuprofen, etc., because of its myriad adverse effects.
