Drug Side Effects: Virtually every medication can have a side effect. How this might impact an individual patient varies from patient to patient. Your treating dentist knows your medical history and TMJ issues better than anyone over the internet. Your concerns should be addressed with the prescriber.

medrol dosepak  works very well for my cervical stenosis / radicular pain during a flare up. can you take medrol every day safely in a lower dose and achieve the same results long term ? i already take lyrica and celebrex.

No: While long term steroids are necessary for some diagnoses such as COPD, it is NOT indicated for your situation due to many negative side side effects, such as weight gain, water retention, elevated blood sugar, bone softening, and fat redistribution. If you still have pain after the dospak, consider injections, radio frequency ablations and other techniques used by pain physicians. Good luck

i was prescribed medrol dosepak for swollen jaw yesterday. per dr. instruction, took 8mg at 12pm, 3:30pm, 7pm each.  now at 4am  i woke up with whole body itching.  should i take my  day 2 morning dose now or wait till am to call dr before taking next dos

Wait and call: Though Medrol (methylprednisolone) is often prescribed for allergic conditions that include itching, there have been cases in which Medrol (methylprednisolone) itself has caused itching. Wait until the doctor's office opens, call them, and say, " i think i may be having an allergic reaction." then, describe your symptoms.

i have mild sinuses pain and pressure in my forehead since three weeks. levofloxacin (2 days left out of 14) and medrol dosepak helped only a little. my symptoms are getting worse when there is a hot weather. i also have polyps. what should i do?

Consult ENT: who are experts on Sinus problems.  In the meantime if you have not tried nasal spray, try Flonase (or other steroid) nasal spray 2 sprays in each nostril 2-3 times a day.  Nasal spray can be more effective than steroids by mouth because it delivers the steroids right where they are needed.  Vicks vapor rub in a vaporizer might also be helpful.  Try taking antihistamine if you are not already.

on z-pack & medrol dosepak for throat infection-left sided. throat slightly better but woke up yesterday with pain in jawjoint & under lower jaw. painful chewing& open mouth.very sore to touch. no temp no lymph nodes. could throat inf. trigger tmj?

: I doubt that a throat infection can trigger TMJ problem, especially you were also taking Medrol pak. I wonder why your doctor decided to use steroid besides antibiotic for a throat infection. With the symptoms you described, it's worth to see your doctor again. In the meantime, you can take Ibuprofen (OTC) 200 mg x 2 tablets q 6 hours, prn for pain if you do not have stomach or kidney problem.

Steroids: High-potency steroid creams are helpful in mild cases, but a more severe rash will require oral steroids (prednisone). Over the counter medications are simply not powerful enough to control the intense rash from poison oak; see your physician for help.

No: Avoid chlorine over open sores such as with poison oak.  This can lead to more irritation.

Steroids creams: Localized poison ivy is usually treated with calamine lotion as well as high potency steroid creams.  If it has spread to the face then oral corticosteroids are frequently used.
