My preferred choice for acute bacterial sinusits (with fever, pain and tenderness over the sinuses) is Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for anyone who is not allergic to penicillin. A two week course of treatment is needed, because sinus infections can be difficult to cure completely.

Compresses-Sinupret: Apply hot washcloth compresses to the face a few minutes at a time several times daily.  Look for the natural product sinupret online.  Also try using a neti pot with salt water.  Decongestant nasal spray twice daily for three days will also help.

Sinusitis: First, make sure that is what you have.  Then, sinus nasal saline rinses with neti-pot, decongestant (pseudoephedrine), pain control (tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen), nasal steroid spray, and possibly antibiotics, for which you should see a doctor. Dental infection?: Possible dental infection, perhaps a wisdom tooth. Soft palate is a little far back since these tend to show as hard palate swellings. If your dentist doesn't see anything, see an ent. There are cancers such as much mucoepidermoid carcinoma that can arise on the soft palate.

Not a side effect: cough and sinus issues are not side effects of metformin; however, if this is a new medicine for you, it could be signs of a low grade allergic response. Please call your PCP.

Antibiotic diarrhea: Definitely you need to speak to your daughters pediatrician about this. Most antibiotic associated diarrhea is a mild nuisance, but this sounds more serious so I would call today. You should check your childs 'volume status' -noting color of urine, how much, whether she makes many tears or not. She likely is dehydrated from this and I would take action now.

They're different.: Clindamycin is an antibiotic that is not commonly used for initial treatment of sinusitis. Mucinex (guaifenesin) is a medication that may help you because it loosens thick mucus. Also try a decongestant like pseudoephedrine (e.g., Sudafed) and saline sinus rinses for best results. It is not recommended to start antibiotics for sinusitis unless not improving after 7 days.
