No problem : SSRI's, such as Lustral or Zoloft, (sertraline) do not interfere with the common drugs for Gerd. I would recommend adopting anti-reflux measures. In addition, you might start with ranitidine 150 mg twice a day for about two weeks, to see if that helps. If that does not work, I would see your doctor to get started on the long-term medicine. Diet & lifestyle: Meds only reduce the discomfort / injury associated with gerd.  Dietary and behavior modification are what's needed to address gerd.  Select better food, smaller portion and keeping your wt in check will serve you well long term.  Occasional use of otc meds like Zantac (ranitidine) or Prilosec is fine but you need to see a doc if your problems persist.

Reflux/gas: Were you checked for H pylori a bacteria that causes gastritis? Are you on simethicone that absorbs gas? Other consideration food intolerances, like milk intolerance,gluten sensitivity, IBS,early ilietis. If the underlying cause is treated all the symptoms should resolve. If there are still symptoms then something else is complicating the picture and more evaluation is warranted.

Reflux meds change the character of fluid in the stomach but cannot stop that fluid from refluxing into the esophagus and throat. Elevating the head of your bed (on blocks placed under the feet of the frame - 6 inches), following a reflux diet and avoiding lying down on a full stomach are best. Yes to gas or...: It could be normal... Avoid long-term use of PPI medications. Consider a 6-week or longer trial of probiotic-containing foods - after you've stopped the acid suppression.

: The stomach entrance is just behind &amp; to the left of the heart. Backwash of stomach acid triggers various intensity of pain-based n how irritated that area is. It could improve in days or weeks. Avoiding caffeine or nicotine that prevents the stomach entrance from closing helps. Not laying down after meals &amp; avoiding spicy foods helps.

GERD: There are 2 basic types of meds OTC that can be used for reflux symptoms. Famotidine especially at bedtime once daily up to 40mg daily. The other class of meds are proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole that are dosed once or twice daily. If doses reach 40mg daily you should consult your doc.
