Beer: Any diuretic type of product such as drinking beer can aggravate incontinence because of the increased urine production.  Vitamin b complex can aggravate urge incontinence. Highly  acidic foods and foods containing caffiene such as tea, chocolate, coffee and energy drinks can aggravate urge symptoms.  Tomatoes, onions, and citrus foods can also aggravate urge symptoms.

Many: Some high blood pressure medications (eg hytrin) affect urethral tone and cause incontinence. Diurectics cause the bladder to fill quickly & can aggravate incontinence (but should not be stopped w/o dr's ok). Muscle relaxants can aggravate incontinence. And certain medications such as for myasthenia gravis can affect bladder function. Any drug that worsens constipation can worsen bladder function.

Meds: Cholestyramine binds bile salts.  It has numerous side effects...one which is constipation
Toviaz is an anticholinergic medication that prevents bladder spasm.  Common side effect can be dry mouth and constipation.
Make sure your physicians are aware that you are on both of these meds.

If : If your problem is not too bad, your best option is pelvic floor muscle exercises otherwise known as kegel exercises.  You can do these any time, anywhere and they help both stress type and urge type urinary leakage.  Just imagine squeezing your vagina closed.  If you are not sure if you are doing these correctly then a one time visit with a pelvic floor physical therapist will help tremendously to locate the correct muscle group and make sure that you are doing these the right way.
If you live in a state with naturopathic providers, they can often recommend non-prescription remedies for incontinence.

Meds: Please check your meds with your doctor -- some meds can cause this if not then you should see a urologist (bladder specialist) or a neurologist (brain and nervous system specialist).

The : The dark urine should not be related to the hiatal hernia or prescription drugs.  Dark urine for four months should be evaluated.  It could be related to a liver or a kidney issue, so seeing a physician would be a reasonable next step.

Use the oldr more: Invasive and less successful surgeries or temporary collagen injections. Lose weight and do pelvic floor therapy.
Thin small strips of mesh are the gold standard for stress incontinence and the fda agrees its the pelvic floor meshes that are the problem for reconstructiin.
