Imitrex (sumatriptan) & allergy ok: It's all right to take your allergy medication on the same day as your sumatriptan. There are no dangerous interactions warnings for antihistamines, leukotriene blocking agents or steroids when used in combination with sumatriptan.  The only warning that comes close is a warning for the cough syrup ingredient dextromethorphan.

Absolutely.: Other medications include zomig, (zolmitriptan) maxalt, Amerge and others.  Side effects vary from one medication to another and person to person.  You could also consider medication to decrease the number of migraines, but only if they occur often enough to take something daily.

Tolerance to the med: The best way to treat migraine is prevention, either by avoiding trigger mechanisms or medications tryptans are the only meds that can be taken even when the headache is ongoing .Read the drug insert tolerance to this type of medication is unlikely.

Is it the right med?: I have seen many, many people who do not respond to typical migraine medications (imitrex, relpax, (eletriptan) maxalt, etc) because they don't have true migraines.  Often time any bad headache is diagnosed as a migraine.  There are many other types of headaches that can be just as bad (tension, cluster, rebound, etc) that do not respond to those treatments.  Confirm that your diagnosis is correct first!

Drug reaction: Refractory anemia has no impact on your  question. the medications you mention usually used for migraine..any medications in the world have side effects to small percentage of the patients and the majority usually benefit from the medications. if you are afraid of the side effects, you may not be able to use any medications at all
