Genetics: Basilar migraine is a migraine variant that occurs mainly during adolescence, and is likely present in patients who have a genetic susceptibility in their families.  Attacks may be triggered due to chemical additives in foods, such as msg, nitrites, aspartame.  Migraine preventatives might work, so discuss with your doctor the possible use of petadolex, riboflavin, co-q-10.

It can be controlled: Basilar migraines can be controlled(not necessarily go away) with medications. You may be able to work depending on your job. Fibromyalgia is seen by rheumatologists mainly and there are 3 fda approved meds(cymbalta, savella, (milnacipran) lyrica).
