Not really: About 10 to 15% of the total population have migraine headaches. Basilar artery migraines are a specific type of migraine and are less common.

Uncommon form: Basilar migraine occurs usually in the younger people, and seems most common in adolescence. Becomes quite unusual in most as they become older. The entity of paroxysmal vertigo in children and adolescents is often seen, but periodic syncope has been reported, also. In general, this is one of the less frequent migraine presentations.
