See below: An allergy describes a systemic response of the body's immune system to an antigen.  The response can cause hives,, itching, swelling, elevation of blood pressure and bronchoconstriction.  An allergy to lioresal would basically be any combination of the above reactions in response to the intake of lioresal into the body.

to follow up on dr. heip le question. my wife takes the following pills. keppra (for epilepsy), loratadine(for allergies), baclofen,turmeric, meloxicam, cyclobenzaprine, and magnesium pills to try to help stop the muscle spasms i be having?

: Your wife is not taking any medication which I mentioned in the previous comment. 
Does she take Baclofen, Cyclobenzaprine, Turmeric, Meloxicam and Magnesium just for the cramping? That means she was already evaluated by a doctor. What's his (her) thought about the cause?
Except Keppra, I would advise to stop the above med one by one, especially Meloxicam which can can cause gastroduodenal ulcer.

No: Baclofen acts on the same receptors as do benzodiazepines, which may be tested for in some kinds of tests, but it is not tested for in usual test kits, and is chemically unrelated to those medications.

NO: Baclofen has no true documented affect directly or indirectly and would recommend evaluation of prolactin and pituitary function.

Need to ask Pain Doc: Yes, you have other options but you need to ask your pain doc. First, epocrates claims no significant interaction btwn Celexa (citalopram) & baclofen. Drugs.Com says there is a possible interaction http://bit.Ly/heiote. Second, alternatives to Baclofen & tizanidine include cyclobenzaprine, carisoprodol, dantrolene, metaxalone, Methocarbamol & orphenadrine as muscle relaxants per epocrates.

i am a healthy 51-year-old male. i have been taking 60 mg of baclofen for about 1-year. 20 mg 3x per day. i no longer need it. can you please tell me how to safely taper off this medicine properly? thank you.

Varies - slowly best: That is good to taper off the Med if not needed.  Try taking just twice a day for 2-3 weeks, then if no difficulties go down to once daily (either at bedtime if it causes drowsiness or during the day if you feel stiff) for 2-3 weeks, then one every other day for 2-3 weeks, then stop.  Hopefully you are doing maintenance exercises to help prevent recurrent problems

why would a dr prescribed baclofen for help in drug use and urges?   also would is cause drowsy if taken with seroquel (quetiapine) (for sleep)?

No: This along with methadone is not one of the products used for drug abuse. He needs to be in a monotoring program

Possibly: Clonazepam is a possibility but is a controlled substance and is not prescribed unless you really have problems with he baclofen. It causes dependence and is pretty hard to wean from.

missed enough doses of baclofen to have withdrawl symptoms. when withdrawal symptoms started; the backpain that was being treated disappeared. possible the drug was causing pain and at the point of withdrawl its effects were "turned off"

: I don't think that baclofen caused your back pain. It should be slowly tapered off to avoid its classic withdrawal symptoms which can be severe. Hopefully you've dodged true withdrawal issues.
