Because...: You want the medicine to go throughout the body.   If you inject into a vein then the medicine travels towards the heart or the central circulation where the medicine is then distributed throughout the body. It can also be quite painful injecting into an artery.

Several reasons: Drugs given via an IV route have a chance to diffuse and dilute in the blood stream before hitting the capillaries of the periphery where they may have undesired effects.  In addition the IV route has a first pass through the lungs which may successfully filter out particle that could hurt an peripheral arterial bed.  IVs are also safer and more common.

Fluid on lungs: No relation to marfan's but clarification as to where the valve is in place. Could be related to mitral valve leaking, weakness of heart muscle, arrhythmia, leakage of aortic valve, leakage of prosthetic valve. It needs close evaluation

Yes: "drugs" is a vague term but if you mean recreational drugs then yes. Marijuana is as bad if not worse than cigarettes. No filter, held for extended time in lungs, and often contains unknown contaminants.So if smoking is a known risk factor....Cocaine tends to cause intense coronary artery vasospasm.This can damage the endothelium and allow cholesterol to deposit in the vessels.

Rumors exist: There is definitely evidence that the use of statins reduces the incidence of strokes and heart attacks. There have been isolated reports of carotid plaque (narrowing) shrinking with the use of statins but this has not been found true for everybody. Most people agree that statins work by "stabilizing" the plaque and preventing it from rupturing and causing a stroke. This is a hotly debated topic.

I suspect this was..: True...True and unrelated. Coagulopathy, is not a side effect of vincristine. However, having a cancer (such as lymphoma that i suspect your dad has) can elevate clotting risk all by itself. Prednisone in rcvp can elevate risk of clotting as well. Additionally, as a 67yo man, he could have had pre-existing vascular disease that elevated his risk for clotting in those vessels that supply the gut.

Surgery: If it was really an aneurysm, of the thumb you should had surgery, and complete resection of the aneurysm.

The tissue should be undergo histological examination, although may also be traumatic.

: Highly likely that some or most of this involves tinnitus, and might be of value to see an otolaryngologist about a "Tinnitus Blocker" device.   You might also query your doctors about medication side effects.  Good luck with your quest.

Clinic: I don't recommend trying to find otc substitutes for all of these conditions. There are sliding fee clinics in most areas of the country.  This could be a viable option for you until your insurance is back & running.  By the way, i suggest that you work hard to become friends with your CPAP machine. Good luck.
