It takes almost three weeks or more to reach a steady state with regard to the mineralocorticoid effects of the medication. The key will be to take it at a time that improves your compliance and allows you to avoid missing any doses.

POTS: Medications used to treat adhd such as Ritalin or amphetamines or  vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine)  effectively increase norepinephrine & Dopamine levels, thereby increasing vasoconstriction & blood pressure. Central net inhibition can reduce sympathetic outflow through stimulation of a2 adrenoreceptors. Discuss this with your prescribing doc.

As needed : Taking advil (ibuprofen) as needed and as directed is ok. If you need advil (ibuprofen) regularly and/or repeatedly, you should be evaluated be your doctor.

None: There really in no safe way to lose 20 #s in 2 weeks. Goal is to lose 2 # a week via a healthy diet and exercise.

Weight Watchers is a pretty good program.

Perhaps;best to quit: POTS is a poorly understood diagnosis. It is generally accepted as being a consequence of damage to the autonomic neurons (nerve cells) which regulate blood pressure &amp; heart rate. Alcohol is known to cause neuropathy, or nerve damage. : POTS is a complex condition that needs to be monitored closely by your regular physician and a cardiologist. Any changes to medications or even supplements needs to be coordinated by your Dr who knows your specific history and symptoms and your previous reactions to meds. It would not be useful for a telemedicine Dr who does not have any of this info to suggest doses.

Probably not: If you have a diagnosis of pots, the treatment  is directed towards symptoms. Pots by itself isn't life threatening, but can be annoying. Lots of fluids throughout the day is also a standard recommendation.  If you really aren't symptomatic, why would you take medicine or even carry this diagnosis.

Safe numbers: But with this situation you may develop more symptoms and increasing dysautonomia without proper treatment.  First line of treatment is to increase the salt and water in your diet. Naldolol will help as a beta blocker to prevent extreme swings between sympathetic and parasympathetic tone but do discuss increased salt and water intake with your doctor.
