Hives, anaphlaxis: Cutaneous mastocytosis typically presents as small brown splotches that turn in hives or welts when irritated, but it can affect the entire skin surface, too.  Systemic masto and MCAS typically presents with spontaneous episodes like anaphylaxis--dizziness, fainting, flushing, nausea, diarrhea, and sometimes hives and trouble breathing. can you have mcas (mast cell activation syndrome) without an elevated tryptase level, even while symptomatic?

No: If you have symptoms and the tryptase is normal, it is highly unlikely to be from MCAS.  However anaphylaxis to food is not always associated with elevated tryptase level. It would be helpful if you can provide us with a description on the types of symptoms you have been experiencing during the attack.

: MCAS is a serious disorder causing very profound allergic reactions that are emergencies. Your IgE level is within normal limits. Most physicians don't have much experience with autoimmune hives where the precipitating agents come from within your own body. I assume you are seen,treated by a rheumatologist and/or allergist who can best advise you.

gi issues and burning facial flushing. i suspect mcas.(dysautonomic) allergist wont test. what kind of md looks into this condition?

MCAS : MCAs is related to high histamine levels. Trestment often involves antihistamines such as benadryl or hydroxizine. I would try to find a functional medicine physician. Often the immune system can be dysregulated due to stress, poor sleep and dietary imbalances. You may want to try a low histamine diet. I would consider checking a 5 HIAA level urine test for carcinoid.

dx with hashimoto's (8yrs), mast cell (mcas) over the last year or so and my symptoms are worsening. major food sensitivities, chronic fatigue, chronic anemia,joint/nerve pain, rashes. recent tpo 2053 and antithyro 1.21. should i be concerned?

: I can see a need for you to be followed and advised by an allergist, rheumatologist &amp; endocrinologist. Your Hashimoto's thyroiditis should be the easiest of the 3 conditions to control. Avoiding severe allergic reactions is important. I'm sure you've learned the list of foods with high histamine contents such as nuts,seafoods,wheat,etc, as well as other triggers. Has lupus been diagnosed?

34f. upper stomach pain, esophagus pain/tightness. swallowing painful. endoscopy&ultrasound normal months ago, but it's worse now.i have pots/eds/mcas, but no one knows what's causing this. i need help, can you suggest what it could be/what to do?

: There are many possibilities among which eosinophilic esophagitis and/or an esophageal motility disorders will have to be ruled out. Starting with your current gastroenterologist would still be best, such changes may result in significant nutritional decline if not addressed timely.
