Bruises: It sounds like thr therapist was a little more agressive on your back. If there was a problem such as a bleeding disorder i would expect to see bruising all over.

Would be OK: To massage if that adds some comfort, but it takes time to effect resolution.  If there is a hematoma underneath of considerable size it will take weeks or months for your body to reabsorb.  No harm will come by massaging.  After a couple days try daily warm compresses.

Several things: Without examining the area, it is hard for a doctor to tell what is going on.  Depending on location, could be bursitis,  muscle injury, phlebitis, joint issue or other conditions.  If it does not resolve within 2 weeks, I would recommend seeing your primary care doc.

Hematoma?: Your history suggests you developed a hematoma, which is an advanced bruise where there is a collection of blood in the soft tissues beneath the skin. Those that bruise easily or that take blood thinners such as warfarin or Aspirin are more likely to develop hematomas after minor trauma. Gentle icing, resting the area and tincture of time typically allows for resolution.

Sounds deep.....: certainly consult your masseuse. Deep tissue massage should not leave bruising. The ongoing use of Advil and Aleve (naproxen) may contribute to your issues.

Wait: The most likely cause is unrecognized trauma. Be sure your shoes are comfortable and large enough. Change shoes for a few days. Keep your foot elevated as much as possible when you're resting. Advil or Aleve (naproxen) may provide some relief.
