Not the best test: Possibly a CT or "virtual colonscopy" (a type of CT scan) would detect a mass in the colon, but the very best by far is a colonoscopy.  Another advantage is if there is a polyp (that may be pre-cancerous), it can be removed during the colonoscopy procedure.  The prep (drinking liquid to clean out the colon) prior to the colonoscopy is normally worst part, and this has gotten much easier of late.

Colon is a gold stan:   Pre-operative CT scanning is not routine in patients with colon tumors. While adding this test would add to the cost of care, error prevention results in cost savings and reduces the risk of litigation.The average tumor size localized by CT scan was approximately 1.4 cm larger than that properly localized by Colonoscopy. Preoperative CT scanning is a beneficial complement to colonoscopy.

Not necessarily but : Other  things can cause a mass on the colon but the one  we worry about is cancer. Get a scope as soon as possible to rule that out or intervene should it be what you fear.

Biopsy: Biopsy of the mass at colonoscopy is the only conclusive test, but the list of abnormalities identified is strongly concerning for colon cancer. Best wishes.

Fat mass: This could be a lipoma (benign fatty tumor) or even an infarcted appendix epiploica.  These are the normal fatty projections of fat that are attached to the colon.  Sometimes these get twisted and die off.  Speak with you doctor. 1.3 cm is a pretty small mass.  Chances are its benign.

Colon tumor: Location worrisome differential diagnosis extensive inluding multiple cancers could be lipoma biopsy and removal indicated.

Need diagnosis: The first step is to confirm the diagnosis and find out for sure what the mass is and if it is a cancer. Colon cancer almost always goes to the liver first, so if the liver is clear,  it's often possible to cure the condition with an operation to remove the primary mass.

An MRI is next 2 try: 2 diagnose the growth. Next most likely would be a biopsy. If a needle biopsy is opted for it is done by a radiologist who has special training in interventional radiology. Another way is to have it done laparoscopically, the mass does not sound like it is excisable. Surgeon if needed is a general surgeon.

a recent ct scan with contrast revealed two cysts on pancreas.  what does this mean? previous colon cancer and has esld.  also 6mm mass on liver.

Needs attention: Needs work up. Most of the pancreatic tumors are solid but cysadenoma , cystadeno carcinoma will present as cystic lesions need  biopsy of these  lesions to make sure they are not malignant also liver lesion. If pancreatic lesions are benign could be a candidate for liver transplantation  for end stage liver disease ( esld ).
