Use watch or timer: If you have a watch or timer, plan to check your pulse for 30 seconds then multiply by 2 to get your heart rate in beats per minute.   Be sure to feel for a spot on your wrist, on the side where your thumb is, to get a good pulsation and then count each one for the 30 seconds.
