using nasal drops since 2 days for my 3 mon old..she still snuffles..don't knw what to do.anything serious??

Sounds appropriate: If your 3 month old has nasal congestion and lots of nasal discharge it is a good idea to squirt nasal drops in the nares and suction with a bulb suction to open up the nasal passages.  Child too young for any medications.  Can try to elevate the head of the crib by placing linens under the mattress on the head side.

Yes: Normal physiologic saline (0.9% sodium chloride) drops can be always be used to loosen up mucous as often as you need to.

See details: Vibrocil contains both a decongestant and antihistamine. I do not believe that are any identical products available in the U.S. Although this med is available through amazon.Com and ebay.

No: Otrivin nasal spray (xylometazoline) is a nasal decongestant used to treat allergies and nasal congestion.  Xylometazoline, the active ingredient in Otrivin nasal spray works by constricting blood vessels in the nose.  By constricting or shrinking the blood vessels in the nose, xylometazoline decreases the symptoms of nasal congestion and discharge.

Oxymetazoline use: it stops having an effect and can actually make things worse   - Oxymetazoline or AFRIN (oxymetazoline) - works well for maybe 1-2 days but then can cause the same symptoms it was being used to treat.    I would STOP using it  -  allow your body to flush it out of its system

Go see your doctor: I don't know what's available in india so you'll need to see your local doc. I assume nasal is salt water. Avoid nasal decongestant sprays that quickly lead to rhinitis medicamentosa which is fancy way of saying you become addicted to them. Check out http://www.Nytimes.Com/2006/03/14/health/14spra.Html. Consider nasal steroids & oral antihistamines like loratadine. Maybe montelukast. Ask your doc.

Rhinitis medicamen-: tosa is prolonged use of nasal decongestant, oxymethazoline, which leads to habituation (one has to use more of the medication to get the same effect) and to inability to stop using the drops because of rebound congestion when med wears off. For these reasons, and the side effects of increased HR/BP, decong. drops should be used max. 7 days. Often need help of doc and use of steroid drops to stop.

i suffer from allergic cold round the year. when i take montair lc tab it gives me relief for two days. nasal drops nazomac-f and inhaler formonide 200 are not effective for me. should i continue with montair lc. or is there any other remedy?

: You should continue with Montair LC (Levocetirizine + Montelukast) but also need to add on an intranasal steroid like Nazomac-F (Fluticasone). Since Fluticasone was not effective for you, then try Nazomac-M (Mometasone), which sometimes work better for some patients, especially if you have nasal polyps. If you have asthma that affects you year round, then you'll need to restart the inhaler.

Similar: Saline (salt water) can be administered into the nose many ways.  Saline nasal sprays produce a fine mist, while drops are larger. Sometimes, nasal rinse with a neti pot or nasal sinus rinse in larger volumes to rinse out the nasal cavity is useful.  An allergist or ENT can assist in the type of nasal spray/treatment most effective for each individual.
