Stretch of ligaments: Sprains occur when ligaments (tissues holding joints together) stretch.  The ACL is a ligament in the inside of the knee.  The MCL  is on the middle side of the knee.  Disruption os ACL means it was probably/partially  torn.  Patella alta means that your knee cap is higher than usual.  You should  discuss these  findings with the ordering physician so she/he can determine appropriate treatmen

Patella alignment.: Most of the time ,consistent strengthening of a  the,quadriceps, patellar bracing and or tapping, small adjustments in shoe wear , avoidance of stairs ,kneeling, squatting,running, jumping will improve things with the knee cap. Surgery is many times a choice when one desires to return to full activities.

Patellar malalignmen: Patella malalignment  is more common in females.  PT may help  strengthen quad muscle and taping the vastus lateralis may decrease its pull.  bracing  may provide symptoms relief but in studies  did not  add to the benefit of PT  . Sometimes surgery is needed, but try ice/ PT/taping possible orthodics  first.  f/u /w orthopedics

can chiropractic manipulation correct vertebral malalignment in lumbar spinal stenosis?

Unfortunately....no: As an osteopathic physician, whose practice includes "manipulative therapy, " it is my opinion that spinal stenosis is not correctable with any form of manipulation or physical medicine. This is unfortunately a surgical condition, and i would professionally recommend a consultation with a neurosurgeon, vs. An orthopedist. Your condition requires more expertise, and your end result will be  better.

i am still having occasional pain in my finger that i jammed a few months ago. my np ordered an x-ray and the results say "soft tissue swelling of the third digit. no fracture, malalignment or significant degenerative changes." what should i do now?

: I assumes the hand X-ray was done right after you had had the injury. If that finger is no longer swollen and there is no deformity, you will overcome this pain (occasional or episodic) soon and there won't be any long lasting effect. However, if that middle finger does not have a normal look and you have pain when flexing it you may need another X-ray but I doubt this is the case.

Loose ligament: Laxity is an orthopaedic term for looseness. Normally, ligaments don't really stretch much.  If a ligament gets partially torn, it can be functionally lengthened which can make a joint unstable.  Some people have more lax ligaments than others.   If there are no symptoms of instability, no worries!

Maybe: This decision is best made by your own orthopedist who has direct access to your x rays. A second opinion never hurts. In someone so young, if you can get away with something short of a total joint replacement, it is always preferable to do so.
