Depends: Both  are a good source of elementary magnesium supplement in deficiency. Magnesium cittrate is a laxative and good for constipation but citrate inscreases stomach acid assimilation and worsen pain  especailly people with acid reflux or if taken in empty stomach. The glycine in magnesium glycinate is an Amino Acid can help with sleep and feeling calm if taken at night. It is not a laxative.

Depends: Both can be used in magnesium diciency. Magnesium Citrate used for bowel irrigation and cause diarrhea. Citric acid will increase stomach acid and assimilation &amp; should be taken with meal.  The glycine in magnesium glycinate is an Amino Acid which can help with sleep and feeling calm. Least likely to cause loose stools &amp; should be taken at bedtime.

Generally none: Check w/your doctor. Magnesium can interfere with the absorption of calcium if you take them together. You don't need to replace magnesium unless you're deficient.

Rule out TMJ issues: TMJ problems can frequently cause headaches but there may be other causes. If you have not seen a dentist recently then have a dentist check to see if there is any TMJ related causes to the headache. Nightguards that are custom made by a dentist tend to work most of the time. If your current nightguard is an OTC one therein lies part of your problem.

magnesium citrate calms me down. my serum level is always 1.9 on the lower end. i heard glycinate calms you more but then read some people get anxious with glycine. is glycine inhibitory to adrenaline/ noradrenaline? or does it stimulate it?

: Be advised that the extracellular level of magnesium doesn't necessarily reflect the intracellular magnesium level.but measuring intracellular magnesium is mainly done in research labs.  Magnesium glycinate is felt to cause less diarrhea but basically has similar effects to magnesium oxide. Too high levels of magnesium are dangerous but magnesium is felt to block adrenal release of cortisol,
