Nothing: This marks some of the normal lymphocytes in a healthy lymph node. Any pathologist worthy of the name will have given a diagnosis -- malignant or not, or under further evaluation, need more studies. Don't trouble yourself with the markers or arcana of how we're doing it. Best wishes.

Depends on location: Superficial nodes that are easily palpated etc..Can be biopsied more easily and quickly compare to deeper ones such as deep in chest or axillary area etc...Deep nodes/internal nodes such as those in chest are often just biospied and not removed--they do have important functions so don't remove unless you have to..Consult your doc..Good luck..

Wait and see: If they're massively enlarged, they can be biopsied. If they're not massively enlarged, and you don't have a primary cancer found after the usual search, I'll bet they're not worth biopsying. Have you been offered a fine needle aspirate?

Excisional biopsy: Yes, removal of a lymph node is ideal, but sometimes a neee biopsy is enough.  The tissue is sent for special studies such as flow cytometry, which may take upto a week for results, depending on where it is done.  Complicated findings may take 10 days to 2 weeks to work out final diagnosis, others may be available in a couple of days.  Good luck!

Several things: Numb the area, make a small incision and inspect the lymph node visually;  then either obtain a portion of the node or more likely remove the node, and then obtain portions for culture, for microscopic examination using some sophisticated testing procedures.  They may ask for frozen sections (rapid exam) and when results arrive decide to do further surgery.  This is a diagnostic procedure.

If a healthcare provider has suggested a tissue biopsy, it is likely because the diagnosis is uncertain.  A biopsy would allow for the tissues to be studied under the microscope.  This could help establish if the condition is an infection or a tumor and if a tumor is benign or malignant.  Talk with your doctor.

Sometimes they need to be biopsied to figure out what has made them increase in size. An MRI is a way of taking pictures inside the body. Many times that is all we need, but many times we need more info like a biopsy.
