A member asked:

What is a lymph node biopsy and what is it for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Lymph nodes are part of the immune system, present in the neck, armpits, groin, abdomen etc. Lymph nodes become enlarged due to infections and tumors. In some cases an enlarged lymph node is removed, biopsy, for examination by a pathologist for diagnosis. See this site for more info. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/swollen-lymph-nodes/ds00880.
