i have a big knot the size of a golf ball on my left cheek. been there for 3 years. are there lymph nodes in the cheek?

Accepted Answer

There are: So called buccal node but they are rarely ever that prominent.  Is this "golf ball" right in the middle of the cheek or back by your ear?  Nonetheless, you need to have this evaluated as it's not normal for any lymph node to be the size of a golf ball.

No: It maybe due to an infection in the ear or the mouth, throat or teeth

Cheek Swelling: Yes, there are lymph nodes everywhere, but in that region you may also be concerned about your parotid gland.  I would seek further consultation.

Thrush: Anything is possible, although that is not the usual presentation. Did you get all your questions answered with your pediatrician or diagnosing physician? He or she will be your best source!

are there lymph nodes in cheek just above jawline? i have a tiny (smaller than pea) rubbery and moveable lump there on my right side. no pain. found it by accident, cant see it otherwise. i have a sinus cold also. concerning?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, and physical examination. A lymph node is unlikely.
You may feel the "lump" every couple of weeks, if it doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other lumps appear, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!

i have two lymph nodes. one under my armpit that's new and one in my cheek for 3 years. both very itchy. is it concerning at all/should i see a doctor?

See the doctor.: It's always good to see the doctor about things like this, especially as a woman who has a lymph node under her armpit.  If that node has been there more than four weeks, it should come out and sent to lab for pathological evaluation.  So, yes, it would be wise to see the doctor about these nodes.  Better safe.

i just noticed that i have a purple dot on the inside of my cheek. its not painful. my lymph nodes are fine & its flat. shat can it be? mouth cancer??

Not necessarily: You most likely bit the inside of your check. If the lesion has not resolved on its own in about two weeks, let your dentist take a look and advise you.

i am taking lamictal, just started at 50 mg/day. today, i noticed an itchy bumpy rash on my chin and it is spreading up my cheek. my lymph nodes are also swollen. i sad a sorethroat/dry eyes last week. what should i do?

Call doctor: Talk to your doctor. You probably have a virus, but should check to be sure it is not a reaction to lamictal. Your doctor may want you to stop the medicine for a few days. If the rash blisters, see doctor asap.

Yes, several places: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Monitoring Centers: The lymphatic system absorbs and carries things too big to go into the arteries and veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food.  A lymph node "tastes" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and enlarges in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  You can feel them then.
