They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Possible but not --: Seen very commonly. There must be another reason for the swelling on the scapula. Between the scapula ; ribs, one could get a bursal sac, resulting in a bursitis.
Bony tumor can cause a swelling on the bone as well.
Get yourself seen by the pcp or an orthopod.

i woke up today with a stiff neck on my left side and my shoulder blade hurts too. my lymph node is pea sized in my neck and it feels swollen. help?'

Viral infection: and musculo-skletal pain. An upper respiratory tract infection or a cold can inflame your cervical lymphonode. It gradually goes down after your cold or URI is over. The neck and shoulder pain could be due to sleeping on your left side.  Take advil (ibuprofen) for the pain. It can take up to 10 days to get over the pain.

i was feeling around on my shoulder/ collarbone and i think i feel a movable lymph node. is that normal? i'm not sick. i'm just worried about it . since i google it. 38 years old. smoked for 3 years and just quit a month ago?

: There are lymph nodes located in that area and it is not unusual to feel a mobile lymph node. As long as it is not getting bigger, is not painful and you are feeling well, it is likely normal. Acute Illness?: The swollen lymph node especially if relatively acute indicates your body is trying to fight off some type of infection...Viral, bacterial, etc.  The shoulder pain if in the same area as the lymph node is likely referred pain or involved in the process.  See your doctor to establish a diagnosis.

Swollen Nodes: if they are swollen to the extent you can't move your next this requires an evaluation. There may be an infection in the area they drain, they may be infected or some other process may be be occurring. Rather than guess get them examined, which will guide the subsequent treatment.

Get it checked!: Swollen lymph nodes can be secondary to a viral or bacterial infection or other sources of inflammation, 0.  Of greatest concern (admittedly unlikely) is cancer or lymphoma.  While it is not likely, it is scary and should be checked.

Probably nothing: Acne confined to a shoulder may be from rubbing; we see this in men who bench-press large amounts of weight. Most adults have one or more palpable lymph nodes in the neck, and if they are not rock-hard, fixed to other structures, or growing rapidly, they're best ignored.
