Some thoughts: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, and
overactive thyroid due to irritation (or even rarely Tumor) of the thyroid can certainly increase metabolism.
Would be easily checked with a regular doctor appointment, but overactive thyroid is quite harsh on the system and shouldn't be let go for days.

pea sized occipital lymph node & 1.4cm jugulodigastric lymph node, both left hand side of neck. been like this months. what is this?

Is it stable in size: As long as this is stable in size over a period of months, and hasn't increased any further. Nothing else is recommended. If you are willing to have a biopsy performed, you'll want to see an ENT physician, however it may not be paid for by your insurance. Keep an eye it, and if it increases in size tell your doctor who ordered the ultrasound of your neck. Watchful waiting is best.

i got lymph node on right hand side behind my ear and it's been sitting here from long time but i never had any problam with this no pain,  no movement. i just need to know that what should i do about this?

How long?: If it's been there for years, it's probably benign, but must watch it for changes in size.

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells/digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph everywhere for bad stuff like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

what can cause prolonged enlarged lymph nodes in armpit and hands?

Many things: This picture shows the lymph vessels in green. Anything that blocks flow can cause enlarged lymph nodes and swelling. This includes infection, cancer, or blood clots. There's also "superior vena cava syndrome" which causes swelling in the face, arms and hands on both sides. See a doctor soon to determine the cause!

had 3 hard lumps possibly lymph nodes on back of hand(tender), below my nose(tender) and on the side of my neck(not tender) for 1 wk. is it lymphoma?

Hard lumps: Have these lumps gone away or are they still there? If they are still there you need to see a doctor to see if you need antibiotic for an infection or if one of these lumps needs to be biopsied to determine if it is lymphoma.

There may be: another source of inflammation such as gums or lesion of oral mucosa.

does a hypoechoic lymph node with size 8.4mm*2.9mm considered enlarge? i often use my hand to prod it. will this action aggravate it?

Accepted Answer

In most: instances that size wouldn't be considered enlarged.  However, there are other features(e.g. morphology/shape) that are also important in determining whether a lymph node looks abnormal on ultrasound.  Talk to your doc about it.

Yes: It can, if it hurts badly or looks infected, see your doctor,

Only a little: Is it red or inflamed? You need an urgent evaluation to rule out an abscess, which may require incision and drainage.Bumps from old cat bites are generally not tender.
